I'm a little late this month, but for good reason. Just after Sam turned four months we all went to California for my 15th college reunion and to visit family. Sam saw Grandma and Grampa McGee, Great-Grandma Gray, lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a bunch of my college friends and their kids. That made for a lot of introductions! Sam's first flights went very well -- he slept most of the way and rarely made much noise. The people sitting around us were grateful, if they even knew he was there. And then, once we got home, Elise returned to work and full time daycare duties turned to me. So Sam-blogging had to wait.
Photos from that trip aren't uploaded yet, but there are photos from the other fun times from last month. We made a trip to Michigan for Elise's 16th high school reunion, and visited Aunt Amanda, Uncle Brad, cousins Evalyn, Charlotte, and Bennett, and even had breakfast with Grandma Jackie and Fred. (This is Aunt Amanda's fourth consecutive mention in the Sam Blog, a feat no one else can match. Keep it up, Aunt Amanda.) We then continued east to visit Niagara Falls, which was really cool. Sam wasn't quite as good in the car -- long car rides stuck in a car seat are not really his thing. Much better to be held on an airplane. When we got back to Chicago we were able to visit Wrigley Field for a neighborhood appreciation day. That might have been more fun for me than for Sam, but someday he'll think it's cool that he took a nap in center field and then tried to eat the ivy.
At his four-month checkup Sam weighed 16 pounds and was 27 inches long. He is a little under the 75th percentile in weight, and a little above the 98th percentile in height (the doctor estimated it as the 100th percentile, so let's go with that). He is barely squeezing into [late edit:

He is working on getting into a crawling position, which makes his mom and dad worry that he will try crawling sooner rather than later. We would like him to stay sedentary for just a little while longer. He is still a big barfer, so that hasn't changed. Funny, at our two-month checkup the doctor told us that months 3 and 4 were the peak of puking, but then at the four-month checkup the doctor said months 5 and 6 are the height of hurling. So, yay for shifting expectations. After Grampa babysat Sam while Elise and I were at the homecoming football game, he reported with newfound appreciation: "He really IS a puker." Yup.
