Resurfacing

So, I'm back in the lower 48. The road trip from Anchorage was awesome, and pictures are forthcoming. The past week has been spent hanging out at my parents' new house in Woodinville, and seeing family and friends. Today I prepare for my flight tomorrow to Chicago, where this blog will take a more midwestern flavor. Fall in the midwest is great, and I'm looking forward to it. Plus, it's still 80 degrees there, so I may experience some summer weather this year after all.

Trippin'

I'm leaving tomorrow to drive from here to Seattle. Should take about 10 days, with lots of stops and hikes in between. I'll update from the road if possible... is there free Wi-Fi in the Yukon? I'm actually hoping not... it's the only place I can go to escape hearing about Michigan football.

Otherwise, see you in a couple weeks.

Two sets of photos

It's been slow in this space for a while -- sorry about that. All the packing and moving has been taking up all my time. But I have had a couple adventures lately, first to the Alaska State Fair and next on a hike to Crow Pass. Stories will come later -- and yes, I still plan on writing about Glacier Bay, Denali, and Halibut Cove.

But for now, here are the photos from the State Fair. Preview... crazy Alaska baby:

And here are the photos from the Crow Pass hike. Preview... inside a glacier (kids, never go inside a glacier):

The Michigan game

I didn't see it. I was moving that day. I haven't seen highlights. I have no idea what happened.

It's embarrassing, it's inexcusable. It's a little depressing that the team is out of contention for the championship after the first game. It's also a little funny.

I'll still watch as many of their games as I can, though. Let's see if they'll get some motivation out of this, and if Lloyd can save his job.

Yes, I saw it.

He shall not be named. But screw him, that's what.

Moved... and moving

So I'm partially settled into a new apartment, just a few miles from my last place. Until mid-month, you can reach me at 524 W 19th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99503.

What comes next? I'm still working on 2008, but the rest of 2007 is set.

My last day at work is Friday. Next week I'm starting a roadtrip from here to Seattle, driving with a couple co-clerks. Then I'll spend a week or so with the family.

Then I'm heading to Chicago for a few months. As they say in Good Will Hunting, I gotta go see about a girl.

After that... still working on it. I'm interviewing with firms in Anchorage, so the plan would be to come back in January or February and start working at a firm. So there you have it. That's the plan.
