Sam was born June 14, 2013, at 12:38 a.m., at 8 lbs 0 oz and 20 inches. (Elise went into labor immediately after I published my post from June 13, below.) He spent his first 10 days in the NICU fighting an infection, and finally came home with us on June 23. He is already growing like a weed. His favorite activity is eating, least favorite is, apparently, sleeping.
My personal moment when I realized I was a dad was when I intentionally put my hand into an active stream of urine to prevent Sam from peeing on his own face. It's moments like that when you wonder what you put your own parents through.
Pictures of Sam from the first three weeks are here, with more on the way to be sure.
